Rise with the Sun
I am not a morning person. However, after watching the sun rise from the comfort of my bed that first morning in the desert, and the ensuing heat that followed not long after, I rose to the occasion the following day and joined the sun.
I could feel the cool dusty ground gradually warming under my feet as the sunlight took over the night sky. Usually, at sunrise you feel as if the world around you is waking up, but in the desert, it feels like everyone disappears. I welcomed this new contrast with open arms; change keeps life interesting and the feeling of having the world around you almost all to yourself is exciting. Today would be a good day: only me, the sun, the desert, my camera, and some companions.
